9月28日・29日にオーストラリア・シドニーにて開催された『AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL』にお邪魔してまいりました。
会場の「Carriageworks」は、元々車両基地などとして使用されていた施設ですが、現在では様々なアートの発信地として注目されています。
シドニーで３度目の開催となった今回の『AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL』では、１００を超える日本からの蔵元様やオーストラリアの酒販店様による日本酒の試飲・販売がメインです。さらに、工芸品の販売、地元レストランの屋台、さらにはSAKEのセミナーや太鼓のライブ演奏などを通じて、訪れた方々が全身で『日本』を体感できる空間が広がっていました。
来場者の皆様が試飲を楽しみながら、真剣にお酒を選んで購入される姿が非常に印象的でした。
もちろん私も日本酒が大好きですが、シドニーの方々の日本酒に対するエネルギーに圧倒されっぱなしで、日本酒の奥深さと、今後の世界における可能性の広がりを実感いたしました。
『AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL』は、本年7月にメルボルンで開催され、来年3月には初めてブリスベンでも開催される予定です。
オーストラリアでのこれからの日本酒の展開から目が離せません。
2024 Mrs SAKE Japan, Emerald Division, Chie Asayama, is pleased to report on the “AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL” which was held in Sydney, Australia on September 28 and 29.
The venue, “Carriageworks,” was originally used as a train depot, but is now attracting attention as a venue for various art activities.
At the “AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL,” visitors were able to experience “Japan” with their whole bodies through not only sake, but also crafts, stalls of local restaurants, and even live performances like TAIKO drum.
The AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL, held for the third time in Sydney, was featuring sake tasting and sales by over 100 Japanese sake breweries and Australian distributors. In addition, there were crafts for sale, food stalls from local restaurants, SAKE seminars and live performances like TAIKO drums, creating a space where visitors could experience “Japan” with their whole bodies.
It was very impressive to see visitors enjoying sake tasting and earnestly selecting and purchasing sake.
I also love sake, but I was overwhelmed by the energy of the people of Sydney towards sake, which made me realize the depth of sake and its future potential in the world.
The AUSTRALIAN SAKE FESTIVAL was held in Melbourne in July and will be held in Brisbane, for the first time, in March 2025.
Cannot take our eyes off the future development of sake in Australia.
